Description

This 12 note total F Low Pygmy handpan on Ember steel has so much versatility and room to grow. Keep chord progressions and melodic possibilities endless with this mutant.

F Low Pygmy is jammy and mysterious with a vibrant display of emotion. This popular F minor is great for beginners and experienced players alike.

Material & Size

This standard size is the largest size I offer and allows for lower register scales and more notes.

Standard handpans are built on Ember steel that is 53cm in diameter and weigh 9 pounds. This metal offers a wonderful balance between bright and warm, has controlled overtones, is highly stable, and is responsive to touch.

For some, playing a standard size on the lap is no issue, especially when used with Rhythm Rest magnetic grips (see accessories below). Petite people may prefer playing with the instrument on a stand or seated on the floor with the handpan half on their lap.

Notes in Scale

  • F/ G, Ab, C, Eb, F, G, Ab, C, Eb, F, G

  • F Low Pygmy is in the key of F Minor and will produce mid-high voice notes

  • I’d describe it as, Woodland, Heartful, Complex

Check out the demo video below. Wearing headphones is recommended for the best audio experience.

Finish Patterns

The finish on this instrument is the premium Gold Vortex. However, I can also produce a custom order with a different finish.

NOTE: The Instrument you receive may differ slightly in color and finish than what is pictured.

Accessories

Every Spirit Handpan comes with a high-quality, Namana Shoulder Bag (see product photo at the top). I also offer a backpack upgrade for $100 (a $250 value).

A recommended accessory is the Spirit Gloss Handpan Oil to keep your handpan looking glossy and pristine. Formulated to aid in the prevention of rust and oxidation on your steel instruments. I recommend this oil to all of my customers.

Also recommended is the Rhythm Rest, a non-slip, magnetic grip which will help keep your handpan from sliding around on your lap, allows you to rest your instrument on the floor, for floor-seated playing, and prevents scratches on the bottom of your handpan.

Scent:
  • I have over a decade of experience crafting handpans across various steels.

Located in Asheville, North Carolina, every handpan I produce has been expertly shaped by hand with care, passion, and dedication.

  • There are many technical aspects that make a handpan high quality, then there is something a bit more organic that makes a handpan feel soulful. I put all of these things in my instrument to create a high quality instrument that also feels truly unique and special when you play it.

    • Incredibly High Stability: Notes will stay in tune for a long time with normal velocity playing and will withstand occasional firm strikes.

    • Precise Tuning: Focus on expression, knowing your notes won’t sound "off" or clash.

    • Impeccable Tonal Quality: Enjoy a pure, bright, and refined sound.

    • Responsiveness: Striking the pan will easily produce the desired sounds

    • High Isolation: Striking one note will only activate that note. Whereas with other pans you may experience dissonance when other nearby notes are also activated. Spirit Handpans deliver improved performance with reduced chatter between notes.

    • Beautiful Aesthetic: Let the gorgeous finish inspire you to produce wonderful music

    • Blooming overtones that create a cosmic playing experience

Infused with spirit and passion that customers have reported truly being able to feel when they play my handpans

  • When placing a custom order, you can expect your instrument to typically be crafted between 2-4 weeks. We can stay in touch from start to finish so you can receive updates, and even get a sneak peek at your instrument in various stages of the process.

When purchasing an instrument readily in stock, your handpan will ship out in 1 to 3 business days. Shipping times vary.

Shipping in the contiguous US is a flat rate of $125.

  • I am committed to making Spirit Handpans amongst the highest quality instruments on the market. Your handpan should stay in tune for at least one year with gentle/average velocity playing. Most customers report still being satisfied with their Spirit Handpan multiple years after purchase.

I have designed your instrument to maintain its appearance for many years to come when you follow my recommended care and maintenance.

I guarantee that the two halves of your instrument will remain together for at least ten years, though it should last a lifetime. In the unlikely event that your instrument naturally separates (this means it does not separate due to damage caused to your instrument), I will reglue your handpan.

I will be available to retune your handpan when the time comes. My Retune fee for Spirit Handpans is $115 for standard 9 note total instruments, and is $20 more per note for instruments with additional notes.

I will always be available to answer questions or concerns regarding your handpan over the course of the life of the instrument.

  • “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for creating such a beautiful instrument. I'm only thirty minutes in and feel like I have found the sound I've been looking for. It almost forces you to open the doors of possibility. All those little nuances are happening so naturally. My playing will grow immensely, top notch work!”
